George Henry White

Our friends in Tarboro, NC, members of the Phoenix Historical Society, produced this short film on someone we should probably be more aware of, George Henry White. He is remembered as the only Black congressman from North Carolina, and the last Black congressman in the US Congress of the Jim crow era, but also the founder of the People's Savings Bank of Philadelphia and later cofounder of an intentional Black town, Whitesboro, New Jersey.
