What is it about that Richmond's history that draws so many people from around the country here?
Richmond, VA May 31 - June 4, 2016: Two professors and three graduate students in history, graphic design and architecture from University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the Center for Design Engagement spent a week in Richmond to facilitate a design charrette - essentially a series of public meetings and designing sessions - to expand on the concepts developed in the 2015 Community Proposal for Shockoe Bottom. The end product gives us further visual representation of the vision for the nine-acre memorial park. Media coverage of the charrette week, including this piece by Catherine Komp for Ideastations' Virginia Currents radio story: http://ideastations.org/radio/news/community-work-shapes-ideas-shockoe-bottom-memorial-park
