Look for these hand-fans today!

On September 26 and 27, Richmond will be hosting the elite men’s and elite women’s championship bike races. Thousands of spectators will line the race route and millions more will watch around the world. This is a prime opportunity to raise public awareness of the importance of historic Shockoe Bottom and to promote the local community's proposal for a Shockoe Bottom Memorial Park that would fully commemorate the site’s heritage.

Join the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Preservation Virginia, and the Defenders for Freedom, Justice and Equality in showing our support for the Sacred Ground Memorial Park while cheering on the world’s best cyclists!

  • The Women's Elite Road Circuit takes place on Saturday, September 26 from 1–4:25 p.m.
  • The Men's Elite Road Circuit takes place Sunday, September 27 from 9 a.m.–3:40 p.m.

During both races, supporters are asked to meet at John Marshall House (N. 9th Street and E. Marshall Street) where we will have colorful hand fans (‪#‎SaveShockoe‬ - Protect Sacred Ground) for you to show your support for saving Shockoe's Black History for Future Generations!
