Invitation to Attend!

NO ONE WANTS A BASEBALL STADIUM IN SHOCKOE BOTTOM.

BUT WHAT DO WE WANT INSTEAD?

You are invited to a

COMMUNITY BRAINSTORMING SESSION

to develop an alternative proposal for Shockoe Bottom

<=      <=     <= See the schedule of meetings to the left.

In the three decades before the Civil War, up to 350,000 people were sold out of Virginia to the plantations of the Deep South. Richmond's Shockoe Bottom was the center of this trade. In fact, it was the hub of the U.S. domestic slave trade. It's sacred ground that should be properly memorialized, not used for playing sports.

Join with your neighbors for a discussion on what we would really like to see in Shockoe Bottom: A Memorial Park? Museum? Interpretive Center? Historical District?

It's up to us to decide!
